Jo laughed at the godly permission to go with whatever vices she wanted to.
"Can't say I have much of a taste for women or smoking, but I appreciate the endorsement for the other things," she said.
Her expression grew a little more serious as he said he liked her mom too.
"Yeah, she was pretty great."
It was getting a little easier to deal with her mom's death. It still wasn't easy in the least bit, but it was better than her first few weeks here. Now she could talk about her without wanting to cry most of the time. So that was progress.
All the same, she wasn't going to spend too much time on talking about her mom if she could help it. It still stung quite a bit.
"So, Jesse-if you're God... do you always look like this?"
It seemed as good a subject change as ever and somehow she couldn't see God always looking like a cute youngish southern guy.
