Alice smiled to herself, looking at her shoes as he confirmed that he'd gone through the looking glass for her. She wondered what their reunion might have been like had they not been brought to the City. "I was almost home. But if I have to be here, I'm glad you're here, too." There was no one she'd rather sort out the crazy streets of the City with. Even if he wasn't familiar with the place, he had skills she lacked when it came to surviving.
"Maybe I am looking to visit." She grinned and lifted her brows. She paused a second and pulled him to a stop, halting their forward motion rather abruptly. "I should tell you something."
She glanced down at her shoes again and then back up, "Jack's here." Maybe he already knew that, maybe he didn't. But he sure as hell didn't know she was living with the guy. "And when the key to my place appeared in my pocket, we couldn't find the door it went to. Until we got to Jack's apartment. He was just going to let me stay in his guestroom until everything got sorted out, but it turns out that my key fits his door and I guess we're sort of roommates now." It all came out in a rush, barely pausing for breath. "But I'm looking for a different place to live."
She bit her lip and her brows drew together slightly, waiting for his reaction.
