A disbelieving expression crossed his face. Was she serious? "Why do you think I'd have gone through?" he asked, his voice tinged with annoyance. Bloody hell, did she really still not trust him? Or have any faith in him? Or maybe she really hadn't wanted him coming after her at all. All were possible and he bristled a bit at the thought.
Shaking his head, he fell into step beside her. "No worries, wasn't going anywhere important. Trying to get an idea what the place has to offer while it's standing still."
She was full of questions, his Alice, but wasn't she always? He'd known her for such a short time and he already knew that. If she hadn't asked questions, if she hadn't gotten involved, he might never have met her. And that just wouldn't do.
Where was he living? "Ended up in an apartment nearby. Bit weird, that, wish I'd known when I first got here." Shrugging half-heartedly, he gave her a little smile. "But then, also wish I'd known you were here. I missed you, too." Which was why he'd gone after her. Which she apparently couldn't figure out for herself. Oh, this girl.
