She gave a huffy little laugh at his sentiment. "Likewise. I thought for sure you would stay in Wonderland." They had parted on reasonably good terms, but Alice was certain he didn't feel enough for her to ask her to stay, nor to go with her. Clearly now, with their arms wound around each other and no sign of letting go anytime soon, those feelings had changed?
"What were you doing going through the Looking Glass? I thought Jack shut it down?" She paused to look at his face. He was the same Hatter she remembered. "I've been here a little longer than you." She laughed again, maybe a little bit delirious. "I never thought I would run into you. I hoped I would, but when Jack said there was no one else from Wonderland here, I just assumed I wouldn't see you."
The holding of each other was getting toward the awkward stage. Especially since neither of them had really expressed any affection one way or another. She gave him a partial smile, a bit apologetic, and unwound her arms from around his neck.
