"Toward no others, now." Eric said, almost mockingly, as he followed Henry out of the shop and into the street. He walked beside and slightly behind the blue creature, ready to chase if it became necessary. "So now I have absolutely no interest in anybody but myself outside of the negative. Nice to know."
Eric didn't pay attention to any of the other people around them. Those were beings he truly did not care about. They were the City's creations, and he had learned how very unlike normal they were.
"Interests can change. Intentions can change. Perhaps I had no decent intention, as you say, when we first met, but it might surprise you that I've come to like you, Henry. You're interesting. You're not as spineless as you first appeared to me. You're intelligent. And now you're also blue. It would displease me to see you harmed. I'd also like to make sure you don't do anything you'd find regretful."
