Alice followed Jack down the street to his apartment building, nodding at the doorman as well. No sense in being rude to people she was likely going to see again.
They stopped in front of his door and she glanced up at him, unsure of why he didn't immediately open the door.
Her key?
She fished for it in the pocket of her dress and pulled it out. It certainly looked as if it might fit the keyhole, but that bothered her immensely. Staying with Jack for one night while she found her own place was one thing. Staying with him because the City said it must be so was another entirely.
She looked up at Jack again and pursed her lips.
Inserting the key into the lock found that it was a perfect fit and she was able to unlock the door and push it open. Much to her chagrin. "Well, that settles that."
