Alice did likewise when the waitress returned with their drinks. She curled both of her hands around the warm cup of her white chocolate caramel mocha. She leaned toward Jack again, their talk turning away from the unpleasant talk of their surroundings to what he'd been occupying himself with.
She raised a brow and then laughed softly, shaking her head and glancing down at the table top. "They sort of elected you mayor?" She grinned, "Only you, Jack. It suits you, though. I guess if you can't be a Prince in one world, you should be the mayor of another."
She looked his face over for a moment, then sighed. "It's good to see you, Jack. I'm not glad you're here for your sake, but for mine... I'm glad."
