"Not all of them," Megan insisted. "I knew a few who were all right. And you don't have to be stupid to want to make things better. I want to make the world a better place--I'm not dumb, right?" She asked it innocently enough, but it was easy enough to recognize a trap question, even from someone as seemingly guileless as her.
She hmphed to herself in a considering way. "I saw a--" Remembering how Toot had whispered everything, she dropped her voice. "I saw a fairie the other day," she said quietly, considering. "Short little guy, very nice. Are there a lot of them here?" She kind of hoped not. One was good, to tell her a little more about the side of her family that was slightly less embarrassing than the other. More was... uncomfortable. She eyed the switchblade with suspicion as she answered. "I got a job. Part time, at a coffee place. It's really nice, I get free drinks and get to talk to a lot of people and my boss and coworkers are great. So if you like coffee or tea or anything, I can probably get you free drinks sometimes." Really, she should probably stop offering free drinks to everyone she exchanged four words with, but Rufio was her friend. "Also, I've been decorating my apartment. I think I've almost got it just how I want it. So that's good." She nodded to herself.
