Oh he was saving lives! That was so much better than the last time Jeannie had seen him, when he was looting. Of course, he was trying to help his brother, so she could not be too angry with him. But she had tried to steer him towards a better path, and it worked! He was out being heroic!
And kissing girls and taking their notebooks.
That was not as nice, but Jeannie was beginning to think of him as a work in progress. Because she no longer believed he did not take the notebook. He said they could search him and very carefully added that it was not on him. A person said that when they knew that they had hidden something very well, or gotten rid of it long ago. Jeannie knew. She had heard many, many former masters use that very phrase when others asked where her bottle was. Oh, he had it, alright.
But Jeannie was not certain that getting it back would be the best thing for Lois. If she got it back right away, she would have no reason to contact Dean again. And the girl seemed very sure she did not like him, when it was very obvious that she really did! Sometimes, people needed help to see the truth.
It was a good thing they had her then, was it not? Jeannie beamed to herself, then decided to make a suggestion. Addressing Lois, she stated. “I think you should.” There was a little nod before she clarified. “Search him. He said you could.”
The genie’s logic said that nothing but good could come of her plan to get Lois to touch Dean. Then nature could take its course.
