"What? Your notebook?" Dean tore his eyes from the woman in the harem outfit to look at the woman who had every right to hit him, sort of, even though his face suggested nothing of the sort. He looked bewildered. "Listen, lady, I don't know what you're talking about. Plus, it would have been a sucker punch. People don't just blip into existence." Not usually, and not without help.
"Who's your friend?" He knew that he wouldn't be able to just let the notebook story lie; eventually, the reporter would keep pushing the subject. Why did he keep meeting the pushy females? Or the magic ones? Magical pushy females? Dean's attention was on the harem girl; he even gave her a nod and smile with a wink. Of course, her resemblance to one of his favorite tv characters, even if she was a genie, didn't hurt; then again, she was nothing like the djinn he knew.
