The crone's brow lifted as he seemed to get a little flustered, and she didn't bother hiding the smile as he stepped away. Her eyes followed him closely: so that was one place he didn't want her to look? She looked up into his eyes, hers wide and almost innocent.
"I believe there's a link between the City and those who dwell here. Not just those who were born here, but those who are brought here. I want to test it." She started closing the gape between them, a soft smile on her lips. "I know you'd love to know how I can test this, but I don't believe I could really explain. It gets into magic, and you're so very scientific. You'd want to quantify something that is more qualified. It is something I feel."
She was soon standing very close to him. Just within arm's reach. Her hands were at her side. There was no way this small woman could ever hurt a growing boy like him. Why he would probably grow to be a large beast of a man if he ever let himself. She licked her lip and bit it as if in thought.
"Perhaps you could break it down, compare, but I'd prefer to do this my way. I do wonder, have you noticed any similarities in blood of those who have volunteered theirs? Of those who aren't the City's children that is." Get him talking about his own experiments. "I'd love to know your findings, and perhaps my own tests would help you in your own pursuits."
Finally a small hand lifted to lightly touch his arm, fingers brushing down as that same hand dropped away. Just a little more of a push to the enticement spell. Not enough to make it obvious, she didn't want that. Just enough to weaken him a little more. She didn't want him so uncomfortable that he ran after all.
"I'm glad Rufio came by. He was ever so eager to help. I wish more were like him." Not that she'd ever say Hank wasn't.
