Jeannie reached up with one hand to pat the tight French twist of her hairdo, making certain it was still smooth. Not that it would be a problem if it was a bit windblown. She would simply blink it back into place. But she did want to look presentable when she went into the store. Salespeople were ever so much more helpful when you looked well put together.
The shiny heels on her pink shoes clicked against the pavement as she approached the furniture store. She could get there in a different fashion, but she found that it was easier to walk in than to waste time explaining where she came from if she blinked in. And she had much to do today if she was going to surprise her master with a new chair. Oh he would be so happy!
Again, she could blink one into being. She had done that for several things in the cabin. But honestly, Jeannie enjoyed shopping. It was fun! Plus she got to talk to people, and she had always enjoyed that. But mostly it was because she liked to shop. She had recently found magazines that let a person order things that could be delivered. She could shop from the sofa!
The truth was, she was an atypical genie. While she did not think that she restricted herself in what magics she did or did not use, she really did like to do things the mortal way from time to time. It could be easier in some cases. Or more fun in others. Except for waffles. Jeannie was never ever using a waffle maker again. Those things were nothing but pure evil.
