Looking out over the water, Inara felt a smile creeping over her face, one she didn't have to fake or regulate. She smiled because she was compelled to, not because society stated that this was a situation in which she should express joy. She simply did.
"She's beautiful," Inara said softly, and she meant it. She'd thought Serenity was beautiful, too, although the ship was old and not very shiny and breaking down in some parts. She had a charm that none of the modern luxury liners possessed, and even from s distance, Inara saw the same charm in the Black Pearl.
"She is a ship with a history, isn't she?" the Companion asked, turning to Jack with that same smile. "I'd love to hear it sometime."
