Having caught up with Jack - it wasn't hard, the square wasn't particularly crowded, and he wasn't too far away to begin with - Inara stopped, clasping her hands in front of her, an open smile curving her full mouth.
"You've been here longer than I," she said, her dark eyes sparkling. "I should think you'd be more attuned to the moods of the City than I. I'm afraid I'm at a loss here."
She half-turned, looking around the square. Few of the other passerby seemed perturbed by the fact that their homes, jobs, haunts could be located anywhere by this point. Which was a shame. Inara hoped her apartment didn't go too far. She liked its location. She turned to Jack, the smile widening just so.
"It's a good thing I've spotted you, then. It's much more enjoyable to try and unwind the streets when you've company."
