"Some only know of smaller boxes." Zoe softly chided him for the boxes comment. They took a step forward, and the Amazon was very glad that the food smelled good enough to eat. She'd been in line for food before that didn't even smell like food, just the protein supplements that everyone had to eat from time to time.
"You're alone here." Zoe knew she wasn't completely alone. Alfred kept her up to date with River's performances, at least that River was still with the local dance company. Zoe'd yet to catch a show, but she'd seen the girl in motion before and knew that River could probably do about anything she wanted to.
"I understand. Though cutting people open isn't going to make you any less alone, even if it does make sense and you're trying to keep people safe." She was starting to wonder when she became the mothering type; this was mothering wasn't it?
