Rufio watched for a moment, then jogged to catch up. "I could eat," he said, walking exactly next to her, chest stuck out and head up. It didn't matter that she'd gotten the jump on him, bruised his arms, or that she was a girl and taller than he was. He wasn't just going to follow her.... though he couldn't help but admit it was something of a comfort to be around a dominant personality again. Being leader all the time was great, but sometimes tiring, and he used to miss Peter when he wasn't so sure about what he should be doing.
"A flat? How do you stand up?" he asked, then grinned. "Who'd you learn to fight against? They must've been tough." They would have to be, people generally became as tough as their opponents. Unless they were killed first, but she was alive, so....
