"Or you're in another world in a place called the City, in which everything has possibly and probably been provided for you, including an angry editor at your new job." Charlie didn't smile, and somehow he delivered what he said with a rather calm demeanor. He really was just trying to help; that was what cops were supposed to do after all.
"You could just try walking." He suggested again. He looked across the street and was rather certain that the fruit stand hadn't been there before. It wasn't a new to him fruit stand either. He even gave the woman running it a slight nod of the head in greeting, but he didn't cross to her just yet.
"If it's a dream, and you know it is a dream, you could will your walk to be shorter than it should be. Although..." He looked away, his eyes narrowing. "If it isn't a dream, and you still get there, it might prove to be rather startling. If it is a dream and you don't get there on time, you'd have to wonder why you wouldn't let yourself achieve whatever goal you had subconsciously placed for yourself." He thought about this a little longer before focusing on her again, smiling slightly.
