Charlie was on a job of a more personal matter. He was looking for the Winchesters, Jesse Custer, and a girl named Fred. Of course, Custer would be the easiest to find, seeing as he lived in Jennifer's apartment building, so Charlie would let that one go for now. He also didn't want to alert the man to the snooping; Charlie didn't know what this Custer fellow would do if he knew someone was looking into him.
A cursory search into the Winchesters did not make Charlie all that happy. He'd met Dean, he believed it was Dean, before, and he hadn't liked the man. There was a brusqueness about the guy that suggested Dean was more trouble than Jen really deserved. He wanted to protect her after all, and he couldn't do that if he tipped someone off.
He paused to get a look around and heard the question which wasn't meant for him, rather for the universe, but he was going to try to answer it anyway.
"Walking usually works better, or have your own car. You may have one." Charlie was a great welcome to the crazy type, wasn't he?
