Jack was strange. He was like Wesley and Sam and Charles. Fred would never say that he was a mix of them because he was his own person, but he was like them. The kiss on her forehead almost made her giggle; she had to bite her lip a little to keep from doing so. He was almost too sweet; she wondered about those waiting skeletons - there were always skeletons.
"Now, I have to warn you that Lorne...well, he's not what most people expect unless they're from his hometown." Or home dimension. "So, please, don't stare too much. He's supposed to be a little green."
Yes, she knew that was probably an odd thing to say, an odd way to explain it, but she wanted Jack to meet Lorne before talking about demons and such. She didn't bother getting a cab, and if Jack had somehow acquired a car, he wasn't driving them. They'd walk just fine. Plus, it felt weird taking a car when the City looked like it did. She didn't know why exactly, it just did.
Thankfully, the City didn't delay them very much, and neither Jack nor Fred were needed to be heroes. They would have been either way, but the City allowed them to find Caritas rather easily. Fred was actually nervous; her fingers crossed as she led the Jack of Hearts into the club. She hoped the club hadn't gotten much damage.
