"I...." Hank stopped short. He really must sound judgmental to her. His head dipped in shame. "I'd not think worse of another based on who he loves. Even if there is a God, I think He would base his opinions on ourselves, not our partners." At least, he liked to think he wouldn't be prejudice. But he'd never come across it in real life, and maybe it didn't really count with Red. After all, the woman obviously liked to play games, and was a woman even with the disguise. After all, a homosexual wouldn't just come up to him and caress him like that, would they? No. Nobody really did that, without familiarity. And he and Red had that.... sort of. He just hadn't known it was her.
"The cure for the weres here, yes, but they were changed for a time. By taking their blood before and after their affliction I was able to find some useful information regarding standard genetic patterns," he said, smiling as he watched her. "My aim is to create a cure that won't take away one's abilities. Just whatever disruption it makes on a standard, healthy appearance. And once I've solved that the implications for curing or aiding other deformities genetically based are pretty great indeed. The volunteers not from the were pool are a variety. A few mutants, of course, but also other people with powers.... well. I'm not entirely sure where those powers originate from, they don't all have the present X gene, but finding the source in those individuals may help me with the work nonetheless. I can't rule anything out without at least looking at it first, after all."
He smiled and put a hand on the pile of work. Yes, he was feeling very good about himself right now. Almost glowing from it, really.
