When angels spoke, bad things tended to happen. It was a range that most humans could not withstand, and in the past the Lord had sent angels to bring down vast city defenses and burst the eardrums of the wicked. Some, however, were gifted with the genetic ability to not only withstand, but translate the natural voice of Castiel and his kind. In the City Castiel had discovered there were other beings, celestial and earth-bound, that did not necessarily follow the usual "rules."
Everywhere and nowhere, his consciousness examined Lorne--not in his heart or in his head, but rather his physiology. He had not encountered such a creature before, but that didn't trouble him; there was much in other universes that he did not understand.
