Baba's head tilted one way, then another. The beak may have looked rather dangerous, threatening, especially to such a small bird, but the firebird and the woman within both knew something was different. This little creature was bluffing. Plus, it took Baba a moment to decypher what the bit of fluff was saying.
"Your wings are awfully small, aren't they?" She stretched out one of her own wings. For something that looked like a peacock that tended to stay on the ground, the firebird's wing seemed more than capable of carrying the bird wherever it wanted to go.
"You probably rest quite a lot flitting hither and yon..." Baba paused as she heard that phrase come out of her...beak? "As you fly about the City." Who said 'hither and yon' anymore? She didn't think she'd said it much when she worked as proper crone.
