"It's not! Look!" Rufio said, gestured, turning and then gritting his teeth, launching himself up higher and higher. The pixie would hold on, or he wouldn't, Rufio's concern was getting passed the buildings and the lights, to see the stars properly. Peter said there wasn't anywhere where the stars couldn't be seen, so maybe they were just hiding, or playing a game.
Finally, when most of the buildings were far below him he suddenly stopped, though not because he wanted to. The air was starting to get thin and he felt dizzy. He fell back, looking out. At least from up here he could see over the wall that he always ran into down on the ground. Beyond the wall was some kind of forest, but Rufio didn't like the looks of it.
Disheartened he floated over to the tallest building, landing on the roof and looking up, all around, staring at the stars again.
"It's not supposed to be like this!" He burst out, then felt his shoulders slump in defeat, the feelings of fear and loss clear in his young features. He looked to his new companion for answers, for reassurance.
