There was something special that made Toot bigger, though nobody really knew what it was. The bow pleased him, however, even if the shock at his gender was a bit of an annoyance. Of course there were boy fairies! Clearly, this lost boy had only met one or two of the littler ones, the pixie reasoned. If they were small enough, it was hard to tell whether they were boys or girls.
He sheathed his miniature sword, clipped the box-cutter to his belt, and straightened his makeshift armor--fashioned out of heavy-duty plastic bottles, and various odds and ends--his purplish hair sticking up this way and that. "I am of the woods and fields," he said, scoffing at the very idea that he could be mistaken for a house-sprite. "I am Toot-Toot Minimus, General of the Pizza Lord's Guard. I protect the wee folk."
And yes, he too was proud of himself. They made quite the pair, really.
