Something was banging on the outside of the TARDIS. A siren echoed inside, warning the Doctor of a large organism within close proximity. He ignored the cacophony at first; he'd just discovered that there was a message on the little mobile the City had provided him. He didn't often carry the phone - he had his own and he didn't much like the idea of carting around strange tech. It could be used to monitor or to track him, and he trusted the City about as much as... well, not at all, frankly.
He was trying to listen to his message. However, after the third THUMP he winced and stuffed the device into one of his coat pockets. Alright, already. He was coming.
The alien went not for the door, but for a view screen attached to the center console of the TARDIS. He swung it about so that he could get a proper look, then blinked at what the monitor showed of the outside world.
A polar bear was knocking. On his door. Knocking!
The Doctor's forehead wrinkled. It wasn't the strangest thing he'd ever seen, not by far, but as his days in the City tended to go it was fairly odd. Some people might not have opened, but for such a polite creature? The alien would give a few moments. Besides - if there was trouble, the TARDIS had defenses. He'd... figure something out.
"Hello." The Doctor greeted, the moment the door had opened. "Don't be frightened that I speak bear. I speak quite a lot of languages."
Hey. It was easier than explaining the TARDIS's translation circuit. It seemed a smart bear, but one couldn't make assumptions.
