Simon laughed softly, giving her a look, one that usually meant he was trying to understand her. Or more, he was trying to understand the world. His sister sometimes seemed to have the answers to it all, but then again, he was usually the one called the "know it all".
"Are you sure you're not talking about yourself, meimei?" He gave her a quick nudge before looking away. "I don't know if there's more room here. And, yes, there is time alone, but being on my own - never really thought about it."
Sure, he'd gone to medical school, but even then someone was there. He wanted to be a good doctor for his family - be it the one he'd grown up in or the one he formed with someone else. He didn't think of himself as being on his own, perhaps when he was looking for her, doing what he could to get free her, and that had been very lonely, very demanding, and not at all good.
