Hank couldn't help it. He was a doctor after all and wanted to be absolutely sure she was ok and looked after, and if he couldn't do it himself of course he'd get somebody proficient to take his place.
He looked down when he noted her annoyance. "I'm sorry," he said quietly, but didn't know what else he could say, so instead he racked his brains for any reference of 'Sunnyvale'.
"Ah, no, I've not heard of that place. I'm from Illinois, originally, and other than a stint in Massachusetts for university and Virginia for my work thereafter... I never made it to the west coast I'm afraid," Hank said. Wow, had he really been so few places in his life?
"Why is there so much fighting there? Is world... I mean. Where you're from, there aren't still wars are there?" he couldn't help but be concerned, what with the cold war looming back in his own time and the memories of the World War still fresh in everybody's mind. Many people were afraid the fighting would never stop and just consume them all, and from her technology it was safe to assume her California was a future California.
