Jack straightened his neck and sighed, watching her face. He was having a difficult time deciding if this, Elizabeth's being here, was a good thing or a bad thing-- for either of them.
An eyebrow raised and Jack ran his free hand through hair that was much shorter and much cleaner than Elizabeth was used to.
"Are you married?"
A beat, and a sip. "You and Dear William, ey?" He made a clicking noise with his teeth, like egging on a horse. Then his face calmed. He was very serious. He remembered offering to marry Elizabeth.
