"That's…. that's fascinating. The ability to detect others… like, increased empathy perhaps, though less limited certainly," he said thoughtfully, lost in his own observations and theories for a moment before he shook his head and returned to consciousness.
"Er, yes," he said, blinking in confusion at the bench he hadn't seen before and then sitting, leaving plenty of room for the other before he set down the bag of groceries. He was suddenly inclined to offer her a Twinkie, but she seemed disdainful so he instead took out a hankie and started to clean off his glasses, hands shaking slightly with nerves.
"So were you always… I mean, were you born with your powers or did they manifest later?" he asked after a moment. He'd been born with his feet but there were rumors that some powers only came into use when a child hit puberty. Well, that was the theory he'd read in the one obscure, mocked article he'd read while still in University. He wondered often if he'd ever get to meet the Charles Xavier who'd published it, but that seemed unlikely now that he was trapped in another universe.
