Charlie wasn't ready for that one. He stumbled back more from shock than pain. He moved quickly before he got hit again. He paused as he recognized through the blurred vision in one eye that one of the brawlers, because this had turned into a barroom brawl, was the kid he'd met a while back. The one who thought he was dead.
He knew that the police would be here soon to break things up. Charlie could have left Logan to fend for himself, but he knew how this would go. He was only a little amazed to see that 1) the kid had a sheet, and 2) that the City had it at all. Logan didn't seem as much of a threat as his file suggested, and Charlie didn't think drunk and disorderly should be added to the list. Again.
Charlie stepped in to stop Logan, barely missing another swing from someone else. The detective in an attempt to block another shot from yet another person might have come into contact with Logan's jaw with more than a polite tap.
