He nodded. "This will be my third day," he said, then smiled. "Thank you very much for your offer. But I'm sure you have more important matters to tend to than showing me around an ever-changing city. And I... I'm not defenseless. And I don't tend to go poking about the shadows if I can help it." He couldn't help but look down at his feet. They were miserable, yes, but they seemed to give him the strength and reflexes he'd needed to deck a far more ape-like jock at the university when he was a boy, so he thought they might get him out of trouble if he ever really needed to. Plus the climbing thing always came in handy.
His head snapped up, though, and he returned his mind to the present. "But... perhaps if you are planning on meeting any more men who are prepared to shoot you it would behoove you to bring a doctor along?"
