Murphy received a hand-washing via doggy kisses. Then he did something Mouse rarely did; he sat back down and gave a single long howl.
In the lab, Harry heard the howl. It was the kind of sound that reverberated in the skull and didn't shake away until you knew it was there, and clearly trying to get your attention. He gave Little City one more looking over, and said to Bob, "Take Mister out again tonight. Try those little islands on the eastern side of the City."
"Right-o, boss," Bob answered as Harry headed up the ladder.
Mouse stopped howling as soon as the trapdoor rattled. Harry was already speaking as he climbed out of the lab, not paying much attention. "The western side of the city has been pretty well covered. Bob's hitting the east tonight-- what's on fire?" He was halfway out the trapdoor when he paused.
He looked around then, saw Dinah's defensive stance, then looked at the source. And stared.
