He started moving closer to Dinah, but let out a short cry when she vanished before his eyes. "Dinah? Dinah!"
But it was too late. She was gone. Jake stared at the sofa for a moment, but even the blood was missing. With a sniff, he dug one of the plates out of his backpack, just in case. Then he went to the kitchen and got the lasagna tray out of the oven. And settled in to wait.
