"Twisted, incomplete, completely wrong. It does not understand." Not yet anyway. Baba turned finally to face him. "Of course, you are older than you look. Very few of us aren't." She watched him for a moment, just looking at his face.
"This is an attempt at something, what I do not know. Perhaps appeasement, an apology, but it is for them, the ones who will not seek revenge." Her hand lifted for him to take it. "Perhaps you should dance with me. Otherwise, we'd look very much like the old people who watch the young ones enjoy themselves."
The smile was teasing as she continued to watch him. "You may want to decide sooner than later. The City is a fickle thing, and may rescind its decision to have its children culled. Others have already acted out vengeance, more will probably come. It will no doubt be very interesting when you decide what you shall do."
