Fred was excited. Sad and excited. The last time she got to dress up for anything she was going to go to the ballet. She never made it to the ballet, but she was bound and determined to make it to this shindig.
The dress was a deep maroon strapless number that actually went all the way down to the ground; it reminded her a little of the dress she had planned on wearing the night of the ballet. There were no real frills, but the hint of design was much more interesting, at last to Fred. It had a strange symmetry that appealed to her not so inner mathematician. She even had heels to match and had tried to do something with her hair. It ended up a bit messy, but she thought it looked...dare she say, sexy? Well, she'd never say it out loud. The dark cape seemed a little much, but there was something fun about wearing a cape.
Fred's smile beamed brightly, even if she was a little nervous. She was going to a ball. How many girls got to say that? Besides all the ones who were currently living in the City and were at the ball. She felt like a princess. She didn't understand why she was given a ring, but she put the strange thing on her finger - it wasn't overly impressive save for the moving parts. The top or face of the ring consisted of three circles, one within another and they moved. She nudged the inner one a little, smiling at the movement. The next gift, a box, was just as strange, but thankfully the City had seen to giving her a small bag that matched her dress; so, she had somewhere to put the second gift.
"This is going to be fun." She said to no one in particular as she headed in.
