Arthur didn't blink. It was hard--no, impossible--to tell what he was thinking, at least at first. He listened to her initial reply, and he seemed grave until she poked him again, and he turned his head just slightly. The light from the door behind him changed and a very small, smug dent in one cheek became visible. He waited until she finished her string of thought and paused for breath and questions. He didn't answer any of them.
