The furious blush retuned to her cheeks, as Bella almost choked on her mouthful of coffee. She was nervous - but surely it wasn't that obvious, was it? The statement alone was enough for her to wish for the world to open up and swallow her whole - but alas, it didn't budge.
"I'm not nervous" It was a terrible lie, coming from a girl who's face often read like an open book. "I guess I'm just a small fish from a big pond."
It was an expression her mother tended to use when describing her, as a much kinder alternative to 'Bella has no friends.'
"Truthfully?" She paused thoughtfully for a moment. "I'm pretty much used to being invisible."
