Ted gave it some real thought. He didn't have an opinion on cats one way or another. He didn't hate them. But he'd not had a whole lot of experience with them. Cats were just cats in Ted's world.
"I suppose we could get a cat." He leaned against the counter, thinking. "I've never had a cat. I wouldn't know what to do. How to take care of it. They have books for that, right?"
He thought about the job thing then. "I did. Kind of. Before the... I was managing the money of this girl, George. I haven't seen her since before. I guess I should find her. Or at least see what her money is doing. But I don't have like an office job or anything. I don't know if I'm ready for that yet, Charlie. I haven't adjusted quite as well as you have. I'm still trying to figure out how to get back to the first coffee shop I visited."
There had been really great coffee there, and Ted hadn't ever been able to go back. Other coffee shops had made themselves available to him, but they didn't quite hold up to the expectations he had now. He wanted the coffee from that first shop.
