"It's not that the fish left, Ted." Charlie paused as he was putting things away. "There are times I couldn't look after the fish at the office, but here at the house, you could look after a cat. Or a fish. Though the fish would be better at the office, if we could be in the office. You couldn't be in the office..." His eyes narrowed as he looked at Ted.
"Have you found a job yet?" It wasn't that Ted needed the money, and it wasn't that Charlie thought he needed to work. Not so much. "It could keep you busy, give you something to do."
"You don't want a cat? You could sit on the couch and pet it. It's rather nice petting a cat. Jennifer's cat is nice." Charlie nodded and went back to cleaning up the kitchen.
