"If you're not going to be here for it, why don't we get steak on a night that you will be?" If Charlie wasn't going to be around to share a planned meal, Ted felt he'd much rather just get some takeout or something. Maybe find one of those quick microwavable meals that weren't exactly filling but took zero effort.
"I think that the City might let us have whatever you want, Charlie, to tell you the truth. Hell, it may even let you grow strawberry trees with chocolate sap if you gave it the idea."
Ted wasn't going to be denying that the City could do pretty much whatever it wanted now that he'd seen the inside of the Asylum. He certainly hadn't gone there of his own free will, and he knew Charlie hadn't either.
"Also, criminals do take vacations." Ted popped some fruit into his mouth and appreciated it for a moment. "I took a lot of vacations."
He shrugged in answer to the last question. He hadn't really been doing anything worth noting. Making a new friend out of Dr Simon wasn't really anything exciting. And he really wasn't sure he wanted to talk to Charlie about the voicemails. Charlie might make him call back that one with the toe...
