"That's good to hear, Ted." Charlie smiled at his housemate. There was something comforting in hearing that Ted believed in him. There were times he knew he went a little into the darker side of finding answers, but he also knew that he had his friend to look after him. To remind him that there were things outside his need for justice.
"I thought of getting steak tonight for dinner. I can't promise that I'll be here to grill it, but I thought it'd be good. Potatoes and steak? A man's dinner. Or we could order out. In. Out. Order food." Charlie continued to cut a few more slices of fruit before pushing the dish with the artfully arranged slices around for Ted to start picking through it.
"We have an orange grove outside. Do you think the City would let us have apples? Or something else? I like oranges, but other fruit right outside could be useful." Charlie wasn't sure what they could be useful for, but he liked having the grove outside. It too was comforting. Fruit just right there for him to take and eat as he wished.
"I needed to. Criminals don't take vacations. Would be interesting if they did. Wonder if they go to some theme park afterward. Could they enjoy them?" The detective picked out a piece of strawberry and popped it in his mouth to chew. "I think I'd like to go to a theme park. The City might need to build one. That would be fun. A theme park with the cotton candy and snacks and the merry-go-round."
He pulled a mug down for his own coffee. "What have you been doing? You are finding something to keep yourself busy?"
