She shrugged. "He's the only one here, Charlie. He's both things that you want. He's the only thing we've got right now, the only one who can help us."
It did occur to her that it was possible the person she was speaking about had done these acts to these people. But from what she'd read, they didn't fit in with his style. This was.. this was something different. She was sure of it. Of course, she could be wrong.
But it still didn't change what she'd said.
"We want to know who did this, Charlie, he'll know the why of it. He'll know why the heart was bitten. He'll know why the murders were different. Hell, he might be able to reconstruct the whole thing in his mind for all we know. The goddamned kid is brilliant. Scary. Evil. But he's brilliant." She sighed heavily. "We need him."
Jennifer rubbed her forehead. She didn't want to talk to him any more than Charlie did. But she felt like it was their best chance.
"Juice. If I have any coffee at this point, I'll be too wound up to think."
