She followed, mostly because she'd gotten used to the way he worked. It had been an easy transition from absolutely logical to... whatever Charlie operated in. She'd found that his way of thinking worked. His way of looking at things worked. Most of the time. And somehow, they worked together quite well.
"I think they knew what they wanted from both." Jennifer supplied. She didn't think either body looked sloppy in any way. There was no hesitation.
Jennifer looked around the bedroom. They did look as if they had been happy here. Having a life together. Their stuff was co mingled in a way that suggested they weren't new at living together. They weren't about to separate. They were together. Their stuff was together.
Nothing stood out to her eyes as weird or wrong. In fact, that alone might have been weird or wrong if she didn't know where she was and the sort of creatures they were dealing with. They were the City's people. Too perfect.
"If it was for revenge, and they both worked at the asylum, then they'd both have to die." She hadn't thought of the woman watching. "If she was made to watch then we're dealing with a person or people I'm not sure we can really understand. Look at the way the bodies are. That alone is... " she wanted to say frightening, but couldn't quite make her mouth do it. So she just left it.
