Charlie listened to the tech. "Get what you can. Anything is better than nothing." A pause. "Unless it's not." He looked at Jennifer; this wasn't a normal case, not even by the oddities he'd seen in La or even in prison. This was something done by whatever the City had brought. Probably a very intelligent person or a very lucky one. Or a pair.
The tech looked a little confused and a little frustrated. She didn't understand what was going on anymore than anyone else. The evidence was...lacking. "Nothing other than what we've already told you." She turned as if to return to her job before turning back. "Oh. The M.E. said that he knew them. That he had worked with them at the Hospital before they got transferred to the Asylum?"
"Take many pictures, please. Send them to us as soon as possible. We'll look at the bodies once they're back at the morgue. Run the tests. Tox, sex, whatever else." Charlie stepped closer to Jennifer, his voice lowering. "That's interesting news. Then again, most news is interesting to the right person. No news is good news never seemed right. Wouldn't knowing be better than not knowing? Unless you know everything, but wasn't there someone who really thought knowing was only half the battle. Though, if there's nothing to be done, it really can be the whole battle."
