Jennifer slipped the booties on over her shoes. The mess was terrific. She quickly pulled her hair back into a pony tail to make sure that not too many strays got let loose in the crime scene. They'd already have to check everyone who had been in here. She also pulled on a pair of latex gloves, not wanting to get her fingerprints on anything, and also not really wanting to have direct contact with anything she was looking at.
Something had been done to the bodies.
"I have never." Jennifer admitted. She didn't even know where to begin, in all honesty. It was the most brutal thing she'd ever seen in her life. She looked at the woman first, trying to get a sense of what had gone on with her, but couldn't.
Then the man. There was something really wrong with him, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. His chest was open, the ribs sticking straight up, and she could see the organs inside.
The woman who had been speaking before gestured with a limp hand. "He's not got all his organs, his heart is there, but it's not whole. We'll have to check it in the lab to see what removed the missing parts, but M.E. said it looks to him like bite marks. He also said the kidneys are missing. He won't know what else until he can clean it up."
Jennifer took that to mean that the guy couldn't hold himself together enough in this current environment to get a good look at what was going on. She would have thought a guy like that would be able to keep it in, considering the things he must have seen.
She pointed to Charlie the guy's hands, they were bound together under the table. A quick look showed her that his legs were bound to the wrists by the same rope. The way he was, he was a little spread eagle, and she didn't think it would be a very comfortable position to be in while alive. Which he most certainly was for most of it.
Jennifer looked over the scene again, coming back again and again to the guy, trying to figure out what was wrong with him. She was looking at his eyes when it hit her.
"Charlie." She leaned closer. "Charlie, he's got no face."
