Detective Charlie Crews was hungry. The diner had a very good cobbler, and while it wasn't fresh fruit, there was still fruit in it. There were times he liked eating things that were probably bad for him. He nodded to the waitress as he walked in and settled at one of the booths that allowed him to watch the windows, the street outside.
"What's the cobbler today?" Charlie would probably order it no matter what, but he did like having a routine sometimes.
"Apple and blackberry." The waitress smiled at him; she was a nice type.
"One of each. Butter on the blackberry, apple ala mode, please. One large glass of milk and one coffee, black." It was probably an odd order, but people in the City weren't exactly known for being normal. Charlie nodded with a slight smile as she took the order and walked away. With the waitress gone, Charlie could now look around, just be his usually curious stuff.
