When Veronica thought about what love was, she came back to watching 'Love, Actually' with her Dad at Christmas. The arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport, all of those little snippets of people so genuinely glad to see each other, so full of emotion.
Deep down, Veronica always thought she was incapable of feeling anything that way. That she was too broken, after her Mom leaving. After Lilly. After Duncan. After everything.
It took her going to Quantico to realize that the problem with Logan had been that he reminded her she could be that way, could feel those things. He made her feel them. And it scared the life out of her.
When he said her name the first time, Veronica nodded. It felt like ice was pumping through her veins instead of blood. She didn't notice the bits of ceramic plate on the floor. A lot like the last time she'd seen him, things just seemed to click into place. Frighteningly.
You're here.
Before she could do anything else, move, say anything, Logan was hugging her tightly, and a few stray tears did sneak out. She hugged back, burying her face in his neck for a second until she was sure that she was not hallucinating.
"So did you write any songs yet? I'm expecting songs."
