Honestly, she wasn't sure she ought to be talking to another demon, much less one who talked about Upstairs versus down, but it was the City. All of the rules were different.
"The truth is that I'm only half-demon. Half something else. But where I'm from, even Downstairs demons can be born. I don't know how it works. Gabe - that's the guy who raised me - he didn't talk a lot about it. What I know I kind of had to figure out for myself." The kid shrugged. "...I've got a question. Maybe a rude one.
