Fred blinked, turning to see who he might be talking about, but when she realized he might actually be talking about her, she laughed, the smile staying on her lips as she took the taco. She stepped to the side, not wanting to get too far from the taco stand; she might want another.
"Thank you. You don't have to. I can pay. It's not like lots of people pay for things, not really." Her eyes widened. "I mean, I pay, I always pay. I pay even when they don't bring a check. It just seems rude. I don't care how much the City gives us...which you probably could careless about..." It dawned on her that he could be one of the City's people who really didn't seem to care much about what was going on as long as they weren't being stepped on by giant lizards. She could still kick herself for missing that.
"Thank you, really." She claimed a napkin before stepping back again, just out of the way. There was a soft ooh, as she looked at the delicious taco waiting for her. Then, with a soft ha, she bit into it. The sound that came from her as she chewed the bite was almost indecent; it certainly seemed to make one mother feel the need to cover her child's ears.
