Veronica was impressed they'd accepted her fake ID, but then again, she always had the best fakes. This one she'd made herself.
She thought about what came in bottles, sealed. There was no way she needed another incident on her hands, especially if this place was the real deal. Vampires and roofies did not seem like a good mix.
"Bottle of beer," she said.
It was serious work for Veronica not to comment on her outfit. When the woman came back with the drink, which took less than a minute and which Veronica saw the bartender remove from a fridge and open, she figured she could ask some questions.
"Who bought me this?" she asked. "Drinking free all night... how do you know I'm not capable of drinking Brick over there under the table?"
She nodded toward a man at a nearby table who appeared to actually have no neck.
